Mass, Dinner and Documentary

November 16, 1989- November 16, 2014
25 Years Later

St. John’s Parish and Creighton Campus Ministry invite you to join us for this all university and community event!

November 16, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. 25th Anniversary Mass at St. John’s Parish

Mass is followed by a dinner of Salvadoran Pupusa Dinner, while they last, catered by a locally owned ethnic restaurant, Maria Bonita in the Skutt Student Center Ballroom.
The dinner will begin at 5:30 pm. It is free and open to the public.

Dinner will include a showing of “A Question of Conscience: The Murder of the Jesuit Priests in El Salvador” Film.
The film is 47 minutes. Following the film, we invite those gathered to join us in reflection and conversation.

This is “A  powerful video that tells the story behind the November 16, 1989 massacre of six Jesuits, their cook and her daughter, living at the University of Central America in El Salvador. Juxtaposing the story of the priests, told by Jon Sobrino, S.J., their surviving colleague, and the story of their Jesuit-educated murderers, the terrible logic behind these killings is revealed.  A moving homage to the murdered priests as well as a study of the power of religious commitment and the fear and violence such a commitment can generate.”

For more information on the Mass, please contact Fr. Paddy Gilger, S.J.

For more information about the film and dinner please contact Katie Kelsey

Sponsored in part by the Creighton University Office of the Provost.
