In-Person Service Opportunities

Completely KIDS Gardening

Interested in service, gardening, and fun? Volunteers will do various tasks to help prepare the Completely KIDS community garden for the summer harvest. Volunteers must provide their own transportation.

Completely KIDS Food Distribution

Additionally, Completely KIDS will be offering opportunities to help with their food distribution program. This program helps to ensure food security in our Omaha community! There are two aspects to this service experience. You can sign up to prep food or distribute food!


  • Packing Food: Tuesdays or Wednesdays 9AM to 11AM.
  • Distributing Food: Thursdays 3PM to 6PM.
  • Summer Weekend Food: TBD.

Lutheran Family Services: Global Roots Program

Interested in Urban Farming and connecting with skilled refugee farmers? The Global Roots program is seeking volunteers interested in gardening/farming on a regular or one-time basis during the day. Shift times are flexible and can be coordinated with Morgan. The Global Roots program provides access to land, resources, and support to refugee farmers in Nebraska. All service is outside and socially distanced.

St. Vincent de Paul Pantry Garden 

This summer, the Office of Sustainability Programs is volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul’s (SVDP) Pantry Garden. We are seeking Creighton students, staff, and faculty to volunteer with us! The produce from the garden is distributed to the community through SVDP’s food pantry program. SVDP needs volunteers (aka the Garden Angels) to help with garden care (planting, weeding, watering, harvesting). Our Creighton team is responsible for five (2-hour) shifts between May and July. Watch a video about the pantry garden.

When: The shifts are Mondays between 8 – 10 a.m. on May 24, June 7, June 21, July 12, July 26.

Where: The pantry garden is located on the south side of SVDP’s thrift store and pantry at 21st & Leavenworth Street.

Virtual or In-Person Listening Project: The Listening Project is a structured conversation that inCOMMON uses to learn about the interests and passions of residents. Volunteers ask a series of questions, either virtually or in person. The information gathered is extremely helpful in our efforts to build relationships and empower program participants and neighbors.

Park Avenue Youth Basement: We’re converting a basement into a youth hangout space and are in need of groups to help with demolition, cleaning, and reorganizing.

Virtual Volunteer Orientation: On July 7th, from 5:15-6pm, join us to learn more about inCOMMON’s mission and vision and the important role volunteers play in our organization! RSVP to Sonya for the Zoom meeting link

Youth Soccer in Walnut Hill: In partnership with PACE, inCOMMON is coaching a soccer team of 15-20 youth in the Walnut Hill neighborhood. We’re looking for volunteers to help conduct Listening Project surveys OR provide snacks for Friday afternoon practices, either one-time or ongoing.

Virtual Service Opportunities 

Learning Community Center of South Omaha

If you are interested in having conversations with people learning English, this is a great opportunity! LCCSO is seeking volunteers to be in ESL classes on a weekly basis.

When: June 7th – July 1st, and then July 6th through July 22nd.

Learning For All 

Our mission is to provide adult education (Literacy, GED, English as a Second Language, classroom and one-on-one tutoring). Classes are offered from 9:30am-7:30pm and volunteers are welcome at any time.

Contact: Katie Weber, Program Coordinator ~ ~ 402-502-0698 ~ If you are interested contact Katie at Learning For All where she will host a volunteer orientation!

When: One on One tutors can meet with their students at any time both are available. We request that our tutors meet with their students at least once a week for an hour at a time.

Where: All classes will be remote and hosted on our online curriculum, Burlington English.
