2015 PHCO Volunteer Registration

Registration online has closed. If you are interested in helping, please email phco@creighton.edu.

All volunteers must be 19 years old by March 27 (unless assisting with set up/clean up).

Creighton University encourages employees to participate as volunteers for Project Homeless Connect Omaha. This year Creighton has approved staff and faculty to use excused paid time to volunteer at this event. It is important, however, to obtain prior approval from supervisors to ensure departments have the coverage necessary to conduct business.

Navigators are volunteers who will be matched with a homeless guest to assist him or her in filling out a basic in-take form and in walking through the social and medical services offered at the event. Navigators are not expected to be experts in the fields of social or medical services or provide counseling to guests. Rather, Navigators are there to walk alongside the guest to ensure their needs are met. Your role will include building rapport with the guest, creating a comfortable environment, and ensuring guests dignity as they travel through the service stations. Navigators must be 19 years or older as of the event date.

Navigator volunteers can sign up for shifts in the morning, afternoon, or both. To help our guests receive the best services, all Navigators must attend one mandatory training. Sessions will be held Thursday, March 19 at 4:30pm; Monday, March 23 at 4:30pm; and Tuesday, March 24 at noon in the Harper Auditorium. When you register, you can select your training session.

Volunteers Helping with Set Up / Clean Up

Set Up begins on Thursday evening from 5:30pm – 8:00pm. Clean Up begins after the event on Friday afternoon.

Navigators and individuals who would like to help with either shift can register online. Volunteers ONLY signing up to help with Set Up or Clean Up must be 13 years old or older the day of your shift. Volunteers between the ages of 13 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Questions about volunteering as a Navigator or helping with Set Up / Clean Up should be emailed to PHCO@creighton.edu.

Creighton Health Science Volunteers

If you are a Creighton health science volunteer, please click on your profession below. To register in this role, you will need to use the password “OISSE”.

To help our guests receive optimal services, all Creighton health science volunteers participating at a health station are highly encouraged to attend a one hour training on Wednesday, March 18 at 5pm at the Skutt Student Center Ballroom.

Questions about volunteering as a Creighton health science volunteer should be emailed to the OISSE office at oisse@creighton.edu.

Social Service Agency Representatives

Representatives offer information and services to our guests at assigned tables. Please email Ed Shada if you are interested in registering as a Social Service Agency, edshada@cox.net. To learn more about PHCO and what the day means, take a few minutes to listen to reflections from the day.

Non-Faculty Licensed Health Care Providers

  1.
