The CCSJ began an Advocacy group on Creighton’s campus as a way for students to live out the mission of being for and with the poor and marginalized whom they often encounter through their service experiences. We hope to inspire students to analyze, engage, and challenge the structural systems that often perpetrate injustice in our local, national, and international communities. This group emphasizes four current issues that the CCSJ has chosen based on national and international Jesuit Priorities and our own experiences and discernment:
• Education
• Peace
• Migration
• Sustainability
• Economic Justice
In suggesting justice and advocacy opportunities relevant to our work and/or priorities, the CCSJ relies on the research, expertise, and experience of trusted partners, whom we regularly consult and update, including the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Catholic Relief Services, Jesuit Advocacy, and Jesuit Refugee Services. We also look to local community partners when relevant to our work and/or priorities. If you would like to get involved with the CCSJ Advocacy Team, sign up here for action alert emails to learn what you can do!
