Spring Break Service Trips Work Email Auction

Spring Break Service Trips
Yard or Light House Work Email Auction

What is this auction?

Do you have a long list and need spring yard or house work done? Do you want to support Creighton students participating in Spring Break Service Trips? The Service and Justice Trips program is auctioning off the labor of this spring’s service trip participants! Students are willing to do most yard work or house work. Projects could include: cleaning, organizing, painting, sweeping walks, raking, turning over gardens, mulching, etc.
(No ladders, roofs, or dangerous jobs are permitted!)

For dates prior to Spring Break, we would prefer that all work is indoors. In case of bad weather after Spring Break, the bidder must have indoor backup plans because the labor cannot be rescheduled.

How does the auction work?

Any Creighton friend, staff, or faculty can participate. E-mail auction bids are taken from Monday, February 6, 2012 to Friday, February 10, 2012 at 5pm. All bids must be submitted to Stephanie Haas of the Creighton Center for Service and Justice at StephanieHaas@creighton.edu before polls close. Stephanie will update bidders about current high bids. All identical bids will go to the first bidder. Minimum bids are $12.50 per hour of labor; $50 for 4 hours, $100 for 8 hours, $200 for 16 hours. The minimum bid increase is $5. You can buy 2 or 4 hour blocks of time with 2 or 4 students. Bids are for labor for the specific time and date listed. Dates and times cannot be changed under any circumstances (even weather). Get your bids in early!

When will I know if I won?

The winning bidder will be notified on Sunday, February 12, 2012. If you are the winning bidder, payment is due in the CCSJ by a Wednesday, February 15, 2012. We can accept cash, check or credit card.

I do not need any work done, but I would like to donate.

Positive feedback from a supporter:
“I am very pleased that I participated with the labor auction. It was a fun experience. Since I am staff in the Controller’s office, I do not have the chance to be around that many students. When the students, showed up Saturday mid day they were ready to get to work. I had a list of 6 chores, the hardest being moving boxes from the basement to the second story bedrooms or to the attic. We were done with that list within the 1st hour. They then put up my treadmill and moved large flower pots outside. I asked each one of them about their Service Trip projects and asked what they are studying at Creighton. This is a very impressive group of young people”
