An on-time/complete
Spring Break Service & Justice Trips 2012 application
will include the following items: (All Due November 28th by 4:30 pm)
1) Online Application. All applications are to the general Spring Break Service Trips 2012 Program, not for a specific site. We will take into consideration your preferences but offer no guarantees of where you will be placed. Preference is given to those who are returning participants.
-You will rank justice issues that you are passionate about.
-You will be completing essays as well and there is no option to save and return so plan about 35 minutes to complete this portion.
2) Payment of $300 for full week and $200 for 5-day Omaha trips is due by Nov. 28. This is required for your application to be considered complete. Payments of cash, check or credit card will be accepted Nov. 21, 22 and 28 in the CCSJ.
**Your payment is fully refundable until Dec. 16 should you choose to not participate in the program. A partial refund is available until January 20. Should you choose to not participate in the program after this date, no portion of the payment is refundable because donations to host sites and other costs have already been awarded by this time.
** Limited need-based scholarships are available. Download the Spring 2012 Service Trip Scholarship Application and send it to Kelly Orbik (korbik@creighton.edu) Scholarship applications are due Nov. 22 by 4:30 pm (this is before applications are due) **
3) Interview. You will need to sign up for an interview in the CCSJ Nov. 21, 22 or 28 (before 4:30 on Nov. 28 ). (Interviews are held in the CCSJ; no need to dress up.) Interviews will be held Nov. 30-Dec. 2, 8 am – 9 pm. Please read “In the Service of Life” before coming for your interview as one of the questions will be about this reflection.
4) If you will be under 19 during Spring Break 2012, download the “Under_19_Parent_Consent_form-_sbst 2012” document. You must have a parent or guardian sign it and send or fax it to the CCSJ (402-280-1259).
Applications are due Nov. 28, 2011. Due to high demand for the program, we cannot guarantee placement for late applications. An application will be marked as late if any of the items above are not received before 4:30 pm on Monday Nov. 28.
Points of information about the Service Trips Program
1. For the sake of simplicity and group unity, each student will sign an agreement to not consume alcohol, not bring an iPod (or other personal music player), not use a personal cell phone while on the trip for calls or texts (the group will have a cell number they can give to family/friends for emergencies) and will abide by Creighton’s Handbook while on a trip.
2. Participants will be notified before semester break if they have been accepted to the program. The list of group placements will be posted by Monday, January 23 in the CCSJ office. We will also e-mail everyone.
3. Our coordinators are of all ages, sophomores-seniors and a few graduate students.
