Hitchcock Nature Center needs volunteers to share their love for the outdoors and help protect our natural resources. Opportunities are available at our Welcome Desk and in Natural Areas Management.
Join our friendly welcome desk volunteers assisting guests, answering phones, helping with
the gift shop and participating in office projects, while enjoying the beautiful view of
the Loess Hills from your desk. Natural Areas Management Volunteers help carry out
Hitchcock Nature Center’s land management plans. Help minimize the impact of
invasive plant species while re-introducing native plants to the hills,
clearing trees to widen trails, checking for erosion, and assisting with various land management projects. *Internship opportunities available. Both one-time and continuous volunteers are welcome, although we are more in need of ongoing help. No prior skills necessary!
