Be sure to check out our new DJ bios and schedules! Here is a picture of a cat DJ. Those mixes be purrfect.
We’re finally on the air Jays! Listen in every night to hear your classmates broadcasting from Sunday-Thursday from 6pm-11pm. This is our “soft opening” this week, as we’re still nailing down the DJ schedule. Next week, we’ll have a consistent show, with the actual DJ slots.
Recently, the “cinematic-pop” group Milo Greene from Los Angeles, CA released their self titled album with an incredible accompanying movie which compliments the album itself really well. This movie is really a series of music videos, written by the band, and when played back to back, make up their film “Moddison“. Check it out!
I’m not sure anyone keeps up with 1% productions, but they have been booking absolutely incredible acts to play this summer.
Many of these shows are even listed for less than $15! With the Slowdown within walking distance of the Creighton and the Waiting Room just a 10 minute drive away, you have no reason to miss these shows!
Here are just a few shows I’d recommend you check out if you’ll be in Omaha this summer:
Maps and Atlases: May 9th, $10 in advance, $12 at the door, @ The Waiting Room
Bloc Party: May 28th, $25, @ the Slowdown
The Tallest Man on Earth: June 3rd, $18, @ The Slowdown
Gregory Alan Isakov: July 31st, $12, @ The Waiting Room
So, that comes to a grand total of $65 for four awesome shows. I’d be amiss if I didn’t mention what Stir Cove, in Council Bluffs, has been up to, I highly recommend you check out their lineup for the summer. These shows do tend to be a little more expensive, but they’ll be bringing in some pretty big acts this summer (The Avett Brothers and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros among them!)
GUYS LOOK WHAT I JUST FOUND. So, the AV Club periodically releases these lists of 25 tracks (chosen by their readers) and has bands come in to their little circular room, and cover one of the 25 songs. Once a song is played, it is crossed off the list, so the later a band comes in, the fewer songs they have to choose from! They call it A.V.Undercover and I think it is awesome.
If you’re not doing anything over break, this is an awesome way to watch music. Maybe you can use it to take up an afternoon, whatever. And with three series of these Undercover sets, you’ve got 75 videos to watch! Awesome! I love hearing how each band’s genre effects how they interpret and play their songs! CHECK OUT MY FAVORITE ONE.
Are you done with midterms? Do you need something awesome to do tonight? If you answered yes to both of these questions, stop reading this and go study you nerd!
For those of you who are finished, the Dirty Heads are playing tonight about 3 blocks from campus for $25 at the Slowdown. Do yourself a favor, catch dinner at Brandeis and walk down to the Slowdown with a group of your friends. Be prepared to relax as you dance away your concerns to this reggae-rock group from Southern California. It’ll be a great show, if you don’t know their stuff very well, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3JyVmx3ftM

Check out the California-based band, Cold War Kids April 4th. Their light, surf- rock guitar riffs and heavy percussion are sure
to make for an awesome show! It is an $18 show within walking distance of campus, the way I see it, you have no excuse not to go! But don’t take my word for it, check out this story on their new album and tour “Dear Miss Lonelyhearts”.
