Downloading the Recorder

Users with access to record in BlueCast can download and install the Panopto Recorder software on their own computers.

Log into BlueCast at using the BlueLine Account Option.

From the BlueCast web site there is a link in the upper right corner of the page.


In the window that pops up click the button to download the Recorder for your operating system



The minimum system requirements to run the Recorders are as follows:

Windows 7 / Windows 8 / Windows 10
(32 and 64 bit) / Mac OSX 10.6 (and above)

  • Minimum CPU/RAM requirements: Core 2 Duo 1.8ghz / 2GB RAM
  • Recommended CPU/RAM requirements: Intel i3 2.5 ghz or 2.6ghz AMD Phenom IIX4 910. Ultra: Intel i7 2600 Processor (3.4GHz) or 3.2ghz AMD Phenom II X6 1090T / 4GB RAM
  • Mac: Intel CPUs required
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2  (The Recorder will automatically install this if it is not detected)
  • Recording Quality Options: High– 540MB/hr, Standard– 135MB/hr
  • FireWire ports for digital cameras
  • USB ports for Webcams or other recording devices
  • Disable sleep mode, screen savers and scheduled tasks

For Windows Installation:

  • You will need to have administrator access on your computer to install the software. Please contact the DoIT Service Desk at 402.280.1111 and they can grant you temporary administrator access for this.  With Windows just double click on the installer and click through taking all of the defaults.  The Recorder will be configured correctly once installed.

For Mac OS X Installation:

  • For Macintosh computers you will need administrative access to install software. Once the Recorder is installed you will need to specify the BlueCast server address when you first try to log in from the Recorder.  Type in for the server when prompted. Then choose “Get Providers from Server” and select the “BlueLine Account” option to log in. The server address will be saved for the future.
