Another blog about social skills
So my point is that you have to be aware of your strengths and weaknesses. And if it’s something you really want to change, you have to put some effort into it – the new environment that college provides isn’t going to magically do it for you. Some people, like myself, are just bad at talking to others until we’re really comfortable around each other. You can’t really force yourself to be someone your not, but you can force yourself to put an effort into getting past some of your hang-ups and finding people that like you every bit as awkward as you may be. Welcome to my blog! Have some general advice!
Hey guys! For all of you new students reading this blog, you’re in the right spot. Just because you’re already admitted doesn’t mean you can’t read my blog. I’m here to help, and more importantly I’m here to help you. So, here’s some advice from my experience. Both for surviving the classes you’re in now, and for when it comes time to sign up for more near the end of the semester. Continue reading

So it’s summer.
So, you’re sitting at home already planning your grand entrance this fall onto the Creighton scene. You’re scouring the Creighton 2016 facebook page for potential friends, and you may have already started packing!
Or, you’re at home frowning at the vast number of e-mails you have received from various universities across the nation and trying to figure out which of them you even care about. Continue reading

When You Just Can’t Be There
But, I – unlike many professors – do realize that there are certain circumstances in which you simply can’t make it to class. It might be that you’re sick, you had an accident and are holed up at the CUMC while they set your leg, a family emergency may have come up, you might commute and just got a flat tire(oh God), there are all sorts of reasons you might have to miss.
But seriously guys, if you can make it to class – make it to class. A lot of Professors seem to have a “I don’t care if you are barfing in the corner and infecting half of the class, you will lose 50 points if you miss a day” policy, so… just be wary, alright?
Right. So with that disclaimer out of the way, let’s get down to it! Continue reading

Adventures in Registration
Freshmen reading this, get ready. As I’m sure you’ve already realized(your registration times starting shortly) registration is stressful. There’s all of these things going on, all of these classes you need to take, all of these different prerequisites that pop up, and so on and so forth.
Now stop panicking; what will happen will happen. Override forms are in Creighton Hall on the second floor; they probably won’t give you one for ENG 120, 121, or 150; and Night Classes really aren’t that bad. Continue reading
Okay guys, seriously
So! College Application season is well underway. By the time the next month rolls around, Creighton will already be alerting the early-application folks. So for those of you who want to attend Creighton and are graduating this year APPLY APPLY APPLY. I don’t care how little of a shot you think you have, if you want to come here you have to apply first! The Online Application is free. Giving up before you even really try is just sad. Don’t be sad, be happy!

A Major Decision
Really, I’ve met a few undeclareds in my day, and they’re perfectly nice people. And no one who’s worth anything will look down on them and then say to one another in a derogatory British accent “oh, look, they’re undeclared majors. pip pip cheerio.” Continue reading
Your First Tour at Creighton
I basically treated my first tour of Creighton’s campus like a tour to a cool city would.
I took pictures of everything – the pictures on the walls, the person sleeping in the student center, the cool antique-looking piano in the lied center, the creepy hallway in criss, the random fish my dad held the door to COBA open for(and yes, I will add that picture here as soon as I get back to my dorm and find them on my computer) everything. And it was great. Continue reading
Why Creighton Rocks
The student-to-faculty ratio is about 11:1; it’s a good medium-sized campus; there’s 14 NCAA Division 1 Sports, and 31 club and intramural sports. Over 200 clubs and organizations, 13 frats and sororities if you’re into that sort of thing, and… well, a lot more that I could read at you directly from the bookmark I have in front of me, but while those are all things you should look at when considering schools and applying to schools, there’s a different set when deciding on schools… Continue reading

Talk to People: A guide for the socially stunted(like me!)
So talking to people. If you scoff at such advice, you are obviously nothing like I was when I first started. If your response was something along the lines of “talk to people? But.. but… they’re people!!” then you’re a lot like I was when I first started… Continue reading
