Okay guys, seriously

So, it’s been awhile since I posted (sorry about that)
The reason is threefold:

  1. It’s Midterms time, so I’veĀ  been cramming (remind me to tell you a story once the semester is over, keyword: cavebears)
  2. I’ve been sick and sniffly and no one wants to read a sick and sniffly blog
  3. My main job in le office of admissions is to input data from those “Tell me more” cards, and there’s a lot of them this time of year

So let’s look at that a bit, there’s a ton of these cards. I’m going to state my main point of this blog right away:
IF YOU HAVE ANY DESIRE WHATSOEVER OF MAYBE ATTENDING CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY, YOU HAVE TO APPLY!!!
*cough* sorry about that, but the caps were necessary. I’ve filled in about seven class of 2012 cards who said creighton was their “top choice” and they haven’t applied yet!
GO HERE AND APPLY, SENIORS

Right.
So anyway, let’s focus on those cards for a minute, because I go through quite a few a day.
Firstly:
Write as clearly as you can. If I type in your name wrong because I can’t read it, there’s not much we can do about that until your next collegiate interaction. We want to get your name right, we want to get your address right, and we don’t want to be sending a congrats text message to random strangers.
So please write as clearly as you can.
Secondly:
There are people out there who go to college fairs armed with stickers with their name and other such information so they don’t have to write much. That is brilliant, really. I wish I had thought of it back in my day. Plus, they help to eliminate the problem from above. However, keep in mind that there are some things we have to know in order to put you into the system.
First, your name. First and Last. Middle initial maybe, but definitally your first and last. If you have a nickname, specify it but also put your full name. Just so we don’t have any mix-ups in the system with you listed both as “Joe” and as “Joseph.” Those are kind of a pain to undo.
Second, your address. We HAVE to have your address in order to put you in the system. We Have to. They won’t let us save your data without it.
Those are the only things that are absolutely needed, but keep in mind that if you don’t put what year you graduate, we’re going to assume you’re a senior and you could be getting the wrong things in the mail. Also, e-mail is a beautiful thing – remember that. And telling us how we rank on your list of top schools is always helpful
Thirdly:
Just a note, your not going to be rejected or accepted based on your e-mail.
However.
Also keep in mind that, you know, just in general “SluttyLustxxx6_66@email.com*” is probably not the best e-mail to put when requesting more information about a college you want to attend(and not for jobs, either) so please use your best judgment when choosing which e-mail to put on there.
Also, there are hundreds of possible domain names so please do not assume the person will know that it’s gmail or yahoo.
*not an actual one, don’t worry.
Finally:
Hey, those things on the righthand side of the card are optional. However, if you specify that you’re interested in a certain program, it can help you by having us send you some information for that specific program. Just keep that in mind.

So! College Application season is well underway. By the time the next month rolls around, Creighton will already be alerting the early-application folks. So for those of you who want to attend Creighton and are graduating this year APPLY APPLY APPLY. I don’t care how little of a shot you think you have, if you want to come here you have to apply first! The Online Application is free. Giving up before you even really try is just sad. Don’t be sad, be happy! :D
And for the rest of you, Happy October! Remember the office is always willing to take an e-mail or a call to set up a visit. There are some weekday visits in November called JayDays that I’ll remind you of and the CU Stars are normally in the office to give you a tour as long as you call first!
(Also, do keep in mind that next week is our fall break, so if you have a tour during that time, student interaction may be a bit sparse. Also, that week may be booked so also keep that in mind.)

Not very entertaining this week I’m afraid, but remember that you have to apply to a school if you want to attend it!
Thanks for reading,
~ Carrie
(also, thank-you to whoever liked my last post on facebook :”D)
